As a specialist for special-purpose vehicles, MÜLLER Umwelttechnik depends on innovative solutions.

MÜLLER Umwelttechnik knows what can be made out of a standard truck. The specialised company from Schieder-Schwalenberg belongs to the premier league when it comes to transforming vehicles into highly specialised pieces of equipment for distribution throughout the world: Vehicles made in Schieder-Schwalenberg are used by municipalities and private companies as far away as New Zealand and China, whereby a particular focus has developed for wet-waste disposal vehicles. "We buy in the truck chassis and then add the superstructures, so that a finished product finally leaves our premises", explains Volkwin Müller, who runs the company together with his brother Wolfgang.

The company owes its international status to the innovations developed and implemented at its headquarters on the Julius-Müller-Strasse. The staff at MÜLLER Umwelttechnik very evidently play a key role in maintaining the company’s leading market position. "Not only our employees’ motivation and technical expertise are of importance to us, but also their willingness to work internationally," explains Volkwin Müller. E-mail or telephone correspondence plays an important role in this business, but in some cases troubleshooting or on-site vehicle training may be necessary in our export markets.

MÜLLER Umwelttechnik takes its own steps to ensure personnel continuity. The workforce currently includes 25 apprentices, whose training spans nine job profiles ranging from electronics technicians to industrial clerks to metal contractors for commercial vehicles – so there are many ways of joining MÜLLER. But there is something else that is important, and that is cohesion. "For us, a good internal working atmosphere is crucial, because only contented employees can work innovatively and with energy," says Volkwin Müller.
