A MILESTONES IN OUR COMPANY HISTORY

Schieder-Schwalenberg/Lippe, 12.10.2019

INAUGURATION OF THE MÜLLER SERVICE CENTER FOR WASTE DISPOSAL VEHICLES IN SCHWALENBERG

In addition to normal daily business, over the last two and a half years MÜLLER Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG has been intensively involved in the construction and redesign of a new Service Center. And now, the new facility for the maintenance, repair and conversion of waste disposal vehicles has finally started operations. Around 30 employees work at the new location in Julius-Müller-Str. 10, serving customers throughout the entire life cycle of these specially-constructed vehicles. Customers will benefit by being able to sustainably secure the value of their vehicles while at the same time increasing their efficiency.

In total, MÜLLER Umwelttechnik has invested approx. 1.2 million € in the new customer service facility, whereby the family-owned company is clearly committed to the Schwalenberg location. The new MÜLLER ServiceCenter has emerged from the thorough renovation and renewal of a former vehicle shed belonging to a neighbouring company, coupled with the additional construction of a complete customer service warehouse laid out for incoming and outgoing goods. The facility also includes a representative office building.

The total area of the new facility, which is located opposite the production plant, amounts to about 10,000 square metres. The workshop area, with six modern repair stations and a professional pump repair area, plus the service warehouse and the office, adds up to about 1,350 square metres. Currently, the employees working there are responsible for the operational readiness of 2,200 waste disposal vehicles. The vehicle operators include municipalities as well as private disposal service providers from all over the world.

The establishment of a completely independent ServiceCenter that is separated from the commercial vehicle production represents another milestone in the MÜLLER company history. The construction of the new ServiceCenter generates considerable added value for waste disposal companies by shortening the downtime periods of their vehicles for servicing. In addition, MÜLLER is facilitating the expansion of new-vehicle production through the relocation of its customer service facility and the resulting expansion of the company’s operational footprint.

Since the founding of the company in 1951 by the entrepreneurial pioneer Julius Müller, and the commencement of vehicle production in 1960 at the former Industriestrasse site in Schwalenberg, the company has manufactured and distributed 6,000 vehicles throughout the world. As early as 1975, our long-time Managing Director, Wolfgang Müller senior, who died in August 2017, led the company to market leadership in Germany. Dr. Volkwin Müller and Dipl. Wirt.-Ing. Wolfgang G. Müller now represent the third generation of Schwalenberg’s entrepreneurial Müller family. Today, they are responsible for employing a total of 263 people and generating annual sales of approx. 40 million €.

At the official inauguration on October 12, 2019, the Müller family welcomed over 700 guests representing local politics and business, trade associations, customers and business partners from Germany and abroad, as well as the company's employees and their families. Presentations were held to illustrate the history as well as the future significance of the service philosophy in connection with waste disposal vehicles.

The great event was rounded off even for the youngest visitors by a fitting musical framework and a fun-and-games programme in the atmosphere of the Munich Oktoberfest.
